A RACE SERIES FEATURING EVENTS IN BOTH NASSAU & SUFFOLK COUNTIES
Jonas Chiropractic Sports Injury Care
The Runner's Edge
Sayville & Smithtown Running Company
This is the second year of the race series featuring established races in both Nassau and Suffolk counties, which offers 2 individual series–one comprised of Nassau County events and one of Suffolk county events. Individuals may compete in one or both series. Prizes will be awarded in each 5-year age group in each county.
Team competition includes all the events. In order to be eligible for prize money, a team must compete in no less than 3 events. A team's top 10 races will be totaled to attain the final results. Teams need to submit a team roster at the beginning of the series containing names, genders and birthdates of its athletes.
IMPORTANT COVID19 UPDATE:
To All Our Friends in the Running Community,
As the premier Running Series on Long Island, we would like to thank you again for your support of the inaugural Long Island Running Series in 2019. Like all of you, we looked forward to another exciting year of competition in 2020.
The Covid19 virus has taken its toll on all of our lives, the Long Island Running Series is no exception. Many of the great events that are part of the Series have either been canceled or postponed. The future of all events is in question, as we will consider safety first.
While we have not yet given up completely on having some kind of abbreviated Running Series, it is quite possible that we will have to wait until 2021 to once again have a successful series. We will wait until the end of May to make a decision about the 2020 Long Island Running Series.
We hope that once this crisis passes and you can once again enjoy road races, you will continue to support the events that were part of the Series and the wonderful sponsors who made this Series possible.
Many thanks to our sponsors, the Runners Edge, the Smithtown/Sayville Running Company and Jonas Chiropractic. These businesses will open again and it is important that we support them as they have always supported the Long Island Running Community.
We shall continue to lend our help and support to any event that does take place in 2020 and hope to see you on the roads again. In the meantime, be well and be safe.
